Programs
Education/ literacy is our major focus and
is in compliance with our outreach of involving school age students, high school dropouts,
teenage parents and adults. Branches sponsor education/ literacy projects as a service to
the community and often network with other associations and organizations.
Connection
Connection was adopted at the 60th
national Convention in Richmond, Virginia in August 1996. It involves establishing an
ongoing relationship with the chief administrator/ CEO of reach public school system where
there is a branch of the NAUW. Through the relationship, there will be a program of
activity that will directly involve and benefit students of the area. With the approval of
the CEO, an ongoing project will be established such as:

Bone Marrow Program
African Americans Uniting for Life was adopted at the 60th National Convention as part of NAUW's national health program. Members are encouraged to become donors.
Each branch has a coordinator of Youth Projects who is responsible for developing projects in response to the several needs of youth. Branches may become involved with their own advocacy programs, providing homework or study centers, sponsoring workshops on self-esteem, life skills, drama, personal awareness, political awareness, image building, college preparation or employment preparation.
Self Enhancing Literacy Fundamentals (SELF). Branches sponsor SELF Projects using the Enhancer Newspaper as its basic instructional tool. For additional information concerning SELF Projects
